Our aims

Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity enhances the support, care and treatment of patients at Southampton Children’s Hospital. We provide support to areas of the hospital that lie beyond the scope of NHS funding.
This includes funding specialist equipment, ward refurbishments and improvements, support for our patients, family and staff, as well as pioneering research.

“We are really proud of the quality of care we provide in so many different specialties across children’s medicine, which is testament not only to the work of our dedicated and passionate staff, but also to our patients and their families and friends, as well as members of the public, who complement the NHS service with such outstanding fundraising support.

“It is the combination of everything together that enables us to continue to push the boundaries and ensure we can offer the very best to our young patients and their families, so whether your support is for cancer or neurosciences, rheumatology or orthopaedics, it all helps to ensure Southampton Children’s Hospital can perform at the highest level.”

– Dr Justin Davies, a consultant paediatric endocrinologist and chair of Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity.

Mili’s story

Julie Wood’s daughter Mili underwent life-changing spinal surgery at the age of 17 at Southampton Children’s Hospital to correct an 86 degree curve in her spine.

She said: “Despite living in Cheshire, we didn’t hesitate to travel to Southampton to see spinal surgeon Evan Davies after researching his work online. Three hospitals refused to carry out surgery on Mili because of the high risk involved but Evan offered us a lifeline and we are so grateful to him.”

“Surgeons like Evan and the staff around them deserve all the extra support they can get and we’re extremely proud to support Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity.”
